Collaboration is Prosperation's team came together in January 2022 to install four turtle crossing signs! The signs were installed on Pumping Station Rd and Sheriff Watson Rd. These signs are the first of their kind and we were excited to work with the NCDOT to get these signs approved. Moving forward we will only be able to install more turtle crossing signs on privately owned land as these types of road signs have never been put up in Lee County before. If you are interested in having a sign put up near the road on your property, contact us at our email collaborationisprosperation@gmail.com! These signs were put in place to make drivers more aware of the time of year the eastern box turtle crosses the road. Due to increasing lack of forest and more roads being paved turtle populations have seen a decline, enough in some states for them to be recognized as an endangered species. The community believed in this community care project as they donated the funds to purchase the four signs plus hardware. As a community-based nonprofit, we rely on the publics support to complete community care projects.
